STORY PREFACE
Preface: Originally I selected this location because I wanted to shoot somewhere luxurious WITH a destination APPEAL. But when I discovered that castello di amorosa means “Castle of Love” in italian, i was inpired to have the shoot live up to the castle's name.
STORY DIRECTION
THE THOUGHT OF ATTAINING LOVE led me to this theme:
"A weak heart makes a strong heart"
Due to experience, living through a broken heart makes you realize how fragile, delicate, and valuable your heart is. From that experience, it can help us see love in a new way. It helps us cherish our heart, hold on to it, and protect it. I have a tattoo of my favorite scripture-
“For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10
Many people have experienced weak hearts but through those trials, our hearts are conditioned to grow stronger. In this photo shoot, I want to highlight the strength our hearts have. When we do finally discover the one person who makes every heartache worth it, it's a beautiful story filled with thankfulness, appreciation, and passion. These images will portray hopeless romantics who's hearts are strong because maybe...there hearts were once broken.
Styling Direction: One of my favorite relative quotes is
“Fashions fade but style is eternal” - Yves Saint Laurent
…much like how love is. With anything and everything that I style, I ask myself will this be timeless, relative, and “stylish” in an eternal sense? I want to be able to look back at the images and see the love, the spark, the connection, and the passion rather than the out of date trends. This does not mean I exclude creativity or unique design elements. My intention is to have the design elements compliment the couple, not to have the couple compliment the design elements. For this shoot to be relative, reciprocal, and effecting in making an impression and connection to the modern bride, I want to combine a stylish and slightly edgy duo in a romantic and timeless Tuscan setting. The design pieces will be simple, elegant, clean, and stylish with some aged and weathered elements to tie the texture and Tuscan appeal of the castle in with the details.
Cool History: Castello di Amorosa, is a 13th century styled Tuscan castle. The castle sits on 170 acres and took owner Dario Suttui 14 years to build. He had an infinity for TUSCAN architecture. He spent the majority of his time in Italy and Rome surrounding himself around castles. Dario owned a small castle near Florence, a medieval monastery near Sierra, and a Medici Palace in southern Tuscany before he embarked on his endeavor with Castell Di Amorosa in 1994. Dario spent years searching the world for raw materials to build his castle. He searched in South America, Israel, America, Mexico, and Europe. He originally wanted to build an 8,500 square-foot building without cellars whicH eventually turned into a 121,000 square foot castle with 107 rooms and four levels underground and four ground levels. The castle is equipped with a moat, a drawbridge, high walls and five defensive towers on the hillside, a big kitchen, an outdoor brick oven for baking bread, a church, a horse stable, secret passage ways, and a prison and torture chamber.
